My name is Ken Futers. I trained in Textiles at Manchester Polytechnic in 1978 and went on to work for a furniture company specialising in soft furnishings and within a few years was the Sales Director.

All through my career I have maintained my love of and links with textiles including teaching my own daughters how to sew and alter vintage clothes.

In the last 10 years I have used my textiles skills and love of making to develop and teach myself the fine tradition of bookbinding. It all started when another holiday sketchbook was required but none around to suit. So I made my own and haven't looked back since.

Continuing to delight in beautiful papers and fabrics and combining them into a beautiful book just adds to the pleasure in sketching, drawing and writing in them. At the same time, never one to waste materials, and with all the offcuts of card and paper meant I learned how to build and construct sturdy boxes for different uses.

Lately I have taken to teaching others how to bind a book.

I hope you enjoy what you see and if you are interested in buying any of my handmade books, boxes or blank greetings cards please contact me or come and see me at the Sunday market in Cambridge in Market Square.

If you are interested in doing one of my workshops please email me your details (by going to the contact page) and I will send you a workshop form. The dates are posted on the homepage.

CAMBRIDGE MARKETS. I have had a stall at Cambridge market each Sunday from (10.00am to 4.00pm) and have recently started at the Cambridge Arts & Crafts Market at ALL SAINTS Garden in Trinity Street on a bi-weekly basis.
